BENEFITS:

• Amikacin is an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria, including infections of the lungs, urinary tract, and abdomen.

HOW IT WORKS:

Amikacin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of the bacterial ribosome, disrupting the production of proteins essential for bacterial growth and replication. This action results in the death of the bacteria.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

• Administer AMITRY* 100 via intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection as directed by your healthcare provider.
• The dosage and frequency depend on the type and severity of the infection and the patient’s condition. Follow the exact instructions provided by your doctor.
• Ensure proper aseptic techniques are used during administration to avoid infections. 

SIDE EFFECTS:

• Common: Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and rash.
• Serious: Hearing loss, kidney problems (elevated blood urea nitrogen or creatinine levels), severe allergic reactions (such as rash, itching, and swelling), and difficulty breathing.

WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS:

• Contraindications: AMITRY* 100 should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to amikacin or other aminoglycoside antibiotics. It is contraindicated in those with pre-existing kidney conditions or hearing impairment.
