BENEFITS:

  • Used to treat a wide range of serious bacterial infections, including those in the lungs, abdomen, urinary tract, and skin.
  • It is particularly effective against infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including multidrug-resistant strains.
  • The combination of imipenem and cilastatin provides broad-spectrum antibiotic coverage and helps prevent the degradation of imipenem in the kidneys.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Imipenem is a broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death.
  • Cilastatin is a renal dehydropeptidase inhibitor that prevents the breakdown of imipenem in the kidneys, ensuring higher and more sustained levels of the antibiotic in the body.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

  • Administer via intravenous (IV) infusion as directed by your healthcare provider.
  • The dosage and duration depend on the type and severity of the infection, as well as the patient’s medical condition.
  • Follow the healthcare provider’s instructions regarding infusion rates and timing. Proper aseptic techniques should be used during administration to prevent infections.
